What you’ll learn in this episode:

What is Financial Independence (FI), how it can help you live a more meaningful life, and the four (4) key reasons you should pursue it:

1. Financial & Health Security

  • If COVID-19 has shown us anything, it's that your job and your health are not a sure thing. Pursuing Financial Independence means that you have a safety net if an when the unexpected occurs.

  • There is nothing more empowering than being prepared in the event you cannot physically work or you lose your source of income.

2. Freedom = Choice

  • Pursuing FI forces you to evaluate what is truly important to you in life. From the things you spend money on, to the people you spend with.

  • Your life is no longer structured around generating income to pay for your life; but rather your finances are built around what you want most from you life.

3. Time Ownership

  • Just like the Auntie Maxine memes, when you are Financially Independent, you are reclaiming your time back from your employers (current and future).

  • Time is the most sacred asset because no one, not even would-be trillionaire Jeff Bezos, can buy more time. You can buy your time back, but you cannot buy more of it.

4. Generational Wealth

  • Living an intentional life through Financial Independence means you will have assets to pass down to your children and loved ones.

  • This is especially important for BIPOC whose wealth and labor has been stolen from us for generations.
