Introducing Winenance: Meet the Sisters of Financial Independence

Updated: Aug 24, 2020

Two sisters who grew up financially insecure learned about investing, made a PPT to teach their girlfriends, and turned that PPT into a community and upcoming online course to help others achieve Financial Independence.

So what do you get when you mix one part wine with two parts finance: Winenance of course! But what is Winenance? Who is Winenance? Why Winenance? And the most important question of all, will there be wine? All excellent questions, and the answers that follow will hopefully get you on the journey to financial freedom.

What is Winenance?

Winenance's core mission is to help people transform their mindsets around money so they can live the life of their dreams. We do this by making finances fun! Winenance isn’t a boring personal finance nerd session (well, maybe a little nerdy, but definitely not boring!). It’s a fun and social way to remove the fear and uneasiness from finances. We make learning about investing fun and approachable. And most importantly, we help our customers get real results. After working with us, you will be empowered with the information needed to save and invest smartly, so you can focus on the things that really matter in life.

Are you where we were five years ago? Maybe you have worked your way out of debt, improved your credit score, are making a decent income, and have a 401K, but you may be overspending because you don’t understand the power and value of saving and investing (yet!). Winenance understands that everyone has to start somewhere, and while right now you may not necessarily be super financially savvy, it's never too late to get on the path to Financial Independence.

Have you said any of these things to yourself recently?

  • I’m making money, but I feel I don’t have anything to show for it.

  • My 401K is bleeding money.

  • I don’t even know my 401K login, let alone what I’m invested in.

  • What if the market crashes, like in 2008 or during COVID-19, and I lose all my money?

  • What if it’s tied up in investments and won’t be there for me when I need it.

  • I stick my head in the sand about my finances because I’m too afraid to deal with them.

  • I know I need to change, but I don’t know how to motivate myself and I don’t know where to start.

  • I have tried the budgeting apps, but it’s not working and I’m starting to doubt I can ever get a proactive handle on my finances.

  • I’m saving money, but it’s just sitting in the bank not doing anything - how do I level up?

No matter what the current state of your finances are (or lack thereof), there is a place for you in Winenance. Whether you're climbing out of a student loan hole or looking for a way to make your money start working for you, we can help you get your Winenancial house in order and guide you on your path to financial freedom.

Through Winenance, you’ll turn your financial worries into financial wins and start thinking:

  • I am making my money grow effortlessly (my money is now working for me!)

  • I feel confident around money, I have a plan for it, and I know that every dime has a purpose.

  • Managing and saving money is easy, automated, and accessible!

  • Investing is easy because my investments are automated and are growing at the rate of the stock market.

  • Even when the market dips (hello Coronavirus!), I don’t have to fret because I know my money is where it needs to be, and I have reserves to smooth over the rough waves.

Who is Winenance?

Winenance was co-founded by sisters, Marie Coleman-Johns and Stephanie Stockwell. As children of a single mother, we know what it's like to both struggle and succeed with finances. Many hard lessons were learned over our childhood and early adult years. While we were in the thick of things, it was hard to see the other side. But looking back now, we appreciate the struggle that we had to endure. We learned from the financial mistakes of both our parents and ourselves, and chose to do better. To be better, for ourselves and our families.

On our path to financial freedom, we have seen and done it all. Paid off collections, worked multiple jobs to pay off student loans, improved our credit scores, and not only gotten out of debt, but learned how to use debt wisely and to our advantage. We have achieved financial stability through hard work, commitment to reaching our goals, and learning simple, yet powerful methods to investing.

Why Winenance?

If you haven't figured it out already, we have a passion for personal finance. Perhaps it was the lack of learning about money management or investing in school, or the old school upbringing of not discussing money at home, but once we learned that there were simple, smart ways to make our money earn money (and at any risk level), we were hooked!

So why "Winenance" you may be asking. Well, let's face it, even though the idea of talking about Roth IRA conversions and tax optimized retirement accounts gets our adrenaline pumping, we know it doesn't do the same for most (sane) people. However, wine gets most people excited...or at least piques their interest enough to listen for a couple hours.

The motto of Winenance is 'Invest Now, Wine Later'. Investing in your future and asking the right questions today will get you on the path to financial freedom, and perhaps even early retirement!

So, are you ready to build wealth? Are you ready to put in the work to have the future that you want and deserve? Are you ready to stop overspending on things you don’t want or need and focus on making your money work for you instead of you working for your money? Then let Winenance guide you on your path to financial freedom.

And to answer the final question...yes, there is plenty of wine. Cheers!
